Alexa Jordan ’26

Beyond the Bell
For Alexa, the most meaningful experiences at PVI came through music, faith, leadership, and community.

“One of my top activities is choir,” she shares. “I had the honor of auditioning for various honor choirs such as the American Directors Association for Southern Division Honors Choir in Kentucky. I got to sing with high school musicians across 11 states.” She was also selected for the Virginia District 16 Honor Choir.

Alexa values the connection between music and faith that she found through Choir and Campus Ministry. “I had the opportunity to cantor several special PVI Masses, such as induction Masses for honor societies, All Saints Day, All Souls Day, and the OCIA Mass for students receiving their sacraments.”

Her growth as a musician is one of the accomplishments she is most proud of. “I came in with basically no experience singing. [Choral Director] Ms. Prince is amazing. I went from barely knowing how to do music, and this year I student-directed one of the choir classes.”

As student director of the all-women’s ensemble Chantal Chanteurs, Alexa led warm-ups and directed during concerts. Beyond choir, she served as vice president of the PVI Players and most recently portrayed Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music. She was also co-president of Asian Culture Club and president of Chinese National Honor Society.

Some of Alexa’s favorite memories were made after the school day ended. “My favorite PVI experiences were the various late nights spent at PVI, such as being in the theatre with friends at rehearsals and choir concerts. One of my friends and I have the tradition of going into the chapel after a choir concert when it's pitch-black outside. It's a different experience.”

These moments helped Alexa appreciate the unique sense of community at PVI. “There's a special feeling about being at school later in the day outside of classes; it reminds me that PVI is a community. We're not only operating between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. It's 24 hours. There's always so much happening and so much to get involved in. PVI is definitely a second home for me. The late nights helped me understand the true spirit of service and dedication.”

PVI also challenged Alexa academically and spiritually. “I've had so many amazing teachers who have encouraged me to do things I didn't think I could do. PVI is also a great place to strengthen your faith and learn how to think critically.”

This fall, Alexa will attend Wellesley College, where she plans to major in psychology and neuroscience. “I've always loved watching people and learning what makes them tick. My goal for the future is to find somewhere that I can combine my love of people with scientific research in psychology, the brain, and where they intersect.”
