Triumph Over Kid Cancer Club Featured in NFL's My Cause My Cleats
The PVI Triumph Over Kid Cancer (TOKC) club showcased its creativity and compassion on a national stage through the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats initiative.
The initiative is an annual NFL campaign that invites players and commentators to design custom cleats highlighting causes that are personally meaningful to them. CBS Sports commentator Jim Nantz selected TOKC, and he collaborated with the club's student leaders, Claire, Angelina, and Teagan, to design his cleats, sharing their creative vision with NFL shoe designer Dakota to bring the meaningful details to life. The students incorporated butterflies to honor children who have passed away, including James Ragan, and featured TOKC’s powerful message, “Help Save the Next Kid,” written in the handwriting of 4-year-old Mary Yankee, who is currently battling B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The finished cleats were featured during the Indianapolis Colts vs. Kansas City Chiefs broadcast on November 23, 2025, and will be auctioned at a future TOKC gala.

TOKC was founded in 2007 after 13-year-old James Ragan was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. TOKC is dedicated to lifting the spirits of children battling cancer and increasing funding for pediatric cancer research. In just a few short months, PVI launched the first TOKC high school club in Virginia, already making an impact by creating cards, masks, and Thanksgiving messages for children with cancer.
