Father Heet Named Honoree for Black and Gold Gala

A letter from Head of School, Ginny Colwell, to the PVI community.
Dear PVI Community,

As we prepare to move to the new campus, we find ourselves unearthing treasures of years past at PVI. Pictures, writings, trophies, old uniforms, books that were donated to us when we opened; the list is endless. It serves as a reminder that the spirit of the school is something beyond description. It always has been, and always will be.

In 1983, no one knew what to expect of a new Catholic high school moving into a partially condemned building. HGTV did not exist and the thought of fixing up a school was daunting at best. Our parents and friends cleaned, painted, and prepped our new home for opening day. Leading the charge was our founding Principal, Fr. Don Heet, O.S.F.S. His vision for Paul VI and the foundation he built on the wisdom of St. Francis de Sales, set us on a path for fulfillment.

Fr. Heet served from 1982 – 1991. In the 1991 yearbook, students reflected about Fr. Heet: “Fr. Heet is much like a candle – the light of knowledge, wisdom, holiness, and truth that has spread to all of those he has worked with – all of the students past, present, and future. He has made this school into the institution it is today; his mark will be left here after he has left.”

We couldn’t agree more. It is with much gratitude, admiration, respect, and excitement that we will celebrate the achievements and vision of Fr. Heet as our honoree at the Black and Gold Gala this March. I can’t think of a better, more deserving person to honor as we give a nod to the past and toast the future, with our last annual dinner at the Fairfax location.

The Black & Gold Gala will take place in the Panther Activity Center on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Alumni, parents, friends, please join me for a celebratory night, a last dance, and a true PVI party supporting the school we all hold dear.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the auction leadership team and committee, and our sponsors, who make this signature event possible. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements about this year’s special night.
