Seniors Shine in Virginia Tech's PIP Academy
This summer, seniors Jonathan Lineberry and Montana Michaelangelo completed Pamplin’s Inspiring Possibilities (PIP) Academy at Virginia Tech!
PIP is a ten-day residential program designed to introduce high school students from different backgrounds to the dynamic world of business and business careers. Selected students explored seven areas, including accounting and information systems, business information technology, finance, hospitality and tourism management, management, marketing, and real estate."
Out of hundreds of applicants, only 31 students—less than 1%—were chosen for this unique opportunity. Jonathan and Montana spent 10 days living in the dorms, eating in the campus cafeteria, exploring business majors, completing nightly homework and activities, and finishing with a business presentation for parents and staff.
"At PIP, I learned how to properly communicate with my peers, even when the fit wasn't natural. In the future, I will be able to take this knowledge into the working world and be able to overcome any issues," shares Jonathan.
Montana reflects, "I learned about all of the wonderful business majors Virginia Tech offers, as well as the importance of networking. Additionally, I got a bit of real life experience participating in a simulation of running a business and presenting my findings. Moving forward, I will take the lessons I learned at PIP, like networking, marketing, and adaptability, and try my best to apply it to my college experience and business career."
Congratulations and well done, Jonathan and Montana!
