PVI at Virginia Girls State

This summer, seniors Maddie Allen, Avery Dickens, and Katherine Faist represented Paul VI at Virginia Girls State at Longwood University — an immersive weeklong experience in government, leadership, and civic engagement.
According to Katherine, "The delegates were organized into cities and political parties, where they participated in their own mock governments on the city and state level. I was elected to serve as my city’s commonwealth attorney."

"It was so amazing to be surrounded by so many driven and influential girls from all over Virginia. I ran for the Senate, in addition to serving on the budget committee for my city. My favorite memory was the talent show night where each city gave a performance," Avery shared.

Maddie also reflected, "Overall, the week helped me grow in my confidence and skills as a leader. I met so many girls who were smart and passionate about state issues and weren’t afraid to voice their opinions... I served on my city's planning committee and helped finalize the city's budget... What struck me the most were the different leadership styles and how they played out throughout the week."

Way to go, Panthers! We're proud of your leadership, service, and spirit
