On Thursday, May 29, 2025, the school recognized award recipients in academics and counseling, as well as the recipients of the Clarence Boone Award and the Panther Pride Awards.
Clarence Boone Awards Winners: Roy Wulf ’26 and Alexa Jordan ’26
In 2011, (14 years ago) the PVI Panther Parent Organization created and sponsored the
Clarence Boone Award. This award is very special to PVI since it is in honor of a special man known by many members of our school community for his dedication to our school community. Two years after starting this award, Mr. Boone passed away. We continue to honor his legacy today.
Mr. Clarence Boone was known as the “heart and soul” of PVI through his service to others and to our school community. He loved PVI. He respected everyone and lived the Gospel values through his daily interactions with everyone.
All faculty and staff members were invited to nominate a junior who met these criteria:
The student is a consistent hard worker without the need or desire for recognition.
The student serves PVI and the PVI community in the model of Clarence: most often behind the scenes with set-up of events/programs, keeping pride in the physical plant and school facilities, working with others for success of activities and school organizations.
The student treats all with dignity and respect, friendliness, and inclusiveness regardless of age, race, or social status.
The recipients of this award each receive $1,000 scholarship to PVI tuition.
Every spring, R.E.A.C.H. and Dr. Opfer seek nominations from the PVI community of people deserving of the
Panther Pride award.
Student Panther Pride Award: John Williams ’25
John has been a dedicated altar server for many years, playing an active role in the spiritual life of our school. From the very beginning, he also supported the launch of PVI TV, bringing creativity and energy to our community. John loves PVI deeply and lives out the true meaning of Panther Pride in all he does.
Parent Winner of the Panther Pride Award: Mrs. Carla Grimm
Mrs. Grimm received wonderful nominations from the community. Some comments were, “She shows extraordinary dedication to the school and students.” Mrs. Grimm is well-known for her welcoming smile and service to others. “She's everyone's favorite lunch line lady, and she always has a smile on her face. She puts in the effort to know so many people by name.”
Teacher Winners of the Panther Pride Award: Ms. Meghan O'Connor and Ms. Brigid Hoagland
More than one responder included both names on their nomination form. Together, Ms. O'Connor and Ms. Hoagland create an engaging, inspiring, and powerful community of young leaders.
Ms. Hoagland is an outstanding witness of Christ in PVI. She contributes not only to the growth of the students but also to the growth of the Theology department. With a passion for Theology and a strong sense of mission, Ms. Hoagland guides students in their faith during class and after school and serves as a moderator for multiple clubs.
Her colleague and friend, Ms. O’Connor, was also nominated because “She is a great role model who excels at teaching, listening, and loving.” Another responder says, “Thanks to her, students in Yearbook were able to grow in their faith and see the deeper value of their work.” Ms. O’Connor has maintained her class to be a safe place for all students at PVI.
Congratulations to these recipients!
