PVI Graduates Earn National Merit Scholarships

Class of 2024 graduates Peter Delacourt and Katrina Boland have been awarded the prestigious college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships.
St. Paul VI Catholic High School is thrilled to announce that recent graduates Peter Delacourt and Katrina Boland have been awarded the prestigious college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships. Their dedication and hard work have paid off, with Boland set to pursue aerospace engineering at Purdue University and Delacourt planning to study software engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Over 2,900 National Merit Scholarships were awarded and financed by US colleges and universities. The competition for scholarships started when high school juniors took the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. Semifinalists were the highest-scoring program entrants in each state and represented less than one percent of the nation’s seniors. Semifinalists first had to advance to the Finalist level of the competition by fulfilling additional requirements. Each Semifinalist was asked to submit a detailed scholarship application, which included writing an essay and providing information about extracurricular activities, awards, and leadership positions. Semifinalists also had to have an outstanding academic record, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, and earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirmed the qualifying test performance.
