2024 Underclassmen Awards

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, PVI underclassmen were awarded various academic awards for excellence in academics as well as the Panther Pride Awards and the Clarence Boone Award.
Congratulations to the recipients of the Panther Pride awards. Our R.E.A.C.H. club sponsors these awards annually to honor one student, one staff/faculty member, and one parent for their extraordinary service to PVI above and beyond what is expected, assigned, or required.

The student winner of the Panther Pride Award was Nisha Downey. She was described as welcoming, accepting, humble and someone who treats everyone equally and knows that their role is to support all students. This student not only gives their time and talent to the school, but they do so with pride and unending kindness. This student is extremely involved in SGA and sports and wants PVI to be a place of pride for all.

The parent winner of the Parent Panther Pride Award was Mrs. Aida Tashjian. She who is known as “a God-send to so many parents, faculty, staff, and administrators.” She is a great asset to the PPO and has committed countless hours to many school events and activities, including Parent Ambassadors, the gala, and the All Night Grad Party. She is a true example of service and answers the call to help whenever and wherever she is needed, whether before dawn or after dark. Through her efforts, she makes all of our days lighter and brighter.

The teacher winner of the Panther Pride Award was Ms. Kathryn Virusky. She is described as selfless, caring, and dedicated to their students. This teacher will stay late and give up their lunch hour just to help a student in need. They have handled their responsibilities with grace and are welcoming towards every student, even ones not in their class. This teacher radiates positivity and truly cares about the school, community, and students.

Congratulations to Adie Ferrufino and Andrew Harrison, who received the Clarence Boone Award. Mr. Clarence Boone was known as the “heart and soul” of PVI through his service to others and to the PVI community. Clarence respected everyone and lived the Gospel values through his daily interactions. In 2011, the Panther Parent Organization created and sponsored this special award. Two years after starting this award, Mr. Boone passed away. We continue to honor his legacy today by recognizing a student who serves PVI in the model of Clarence.
