Developing Mathematical Identity in High School Students

Please join us for an evening of professional development for teachers AND parents. 
We will examine best practices in supporting resilience and persistence in math at school and at home. This is an important topic for ALL
students of secondary math and their future college studies.

Laurie Capen, George Mason University doctoral student, Paul VI Summer Studies teacher and parent of two Paul VI alumni, will be the facilitator in support of her doctoral studies in Mathematics Education Leadership.

Laurie Capen is currently a Dean's Scholar at George Mason University getting a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education Leadership. She has a BS from the US Naval Academy, an MA from George Washington University and a Certificate in Advanced Educational Leadership from Harvard. A Navy veteran and former high school math teacher, she was founder and principal of Paideia Academy before beginning her doctoral studies. She is the summer studies/SAT/ACT math teacher at Paul VI.
