Scholarships

In addition to need-based tuition assistance awards, St. Paul VI Catholic High School is proud to offer merit and fine arts scholarships to new incoming 9th grade students who embody the values that represent the spirit of the Paul VI community and our mission.
 
Merit scholarship candidates will be individuals with the following:
    • A complete admission application file
    • Strong academic abilities
    • Leadership potential
    • Interest in our extracurricular offerings
    • Qualities that further the mission of the school
    • Scholarship submissions received by January 31, 2025.
You may only apply for one merit scholarship, in addition to one fine arts scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be notified when admission decisions are available on February 21, 2025.

Please note: more than one award may be given per scholarship, contingent upon the strength of the applicant pool. Scholarships are renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains in good standing.

  • The St. Paul VI Scholarship

    The St. Paul VI Scholarship is available to students applying for admission who have a proven track record of exemplary academic performance and demonstrated community impact. The award amount is up to $6,000 and is renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains in good standing.

    Eligibility:
    Please respond to the prompt, either in written or video format, in addition to the PVI admissions checklist and application.

    Criteria:
    • National Composite score of 95 or higher on the HSPT
    • High academic performance, as demonstrated in the current school transcript
    • A letter of recommendation from a leader at your volunteer organization
    Prompt:
    Our school’s namesake, Paul VI, saw excellent opportunities during his tenure to encourage world brotherhood. He wanted to further efforts for human well-being in the pursuit of happiness in the unity of faith in God. Please describe a time in which you were instrumental in bringing people together.

  • The St. Francis de Sales Scholarship

    The St. Francis de Sales Scholarship is available to students applying for admission who have a proven track record of strong academic performance and demonstrated community impact. The award amount is up to $4,000 and is renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains in good standing.

    Eligibility:
    Please respond to the prompt, either in written or video format, in addition to all components of the PVI admissions checklist and application.

    Criteria:
    • National Composite score of 85 or higher on the HSPT
    • Above average academic performance as demonstrated in the current school transcript
    • A letter of recommendation from a leader at your volunteer organization
    Prompt:
    One of our school’s patron saints, Francis de Sales, was convinced that God sees humanity as a great and varied garden, each person beautiful in his or her uniqueness. St. Francis de Sales approached people with genuine respect and gently guided them to recognize the unique path they would take in life. What unique talents would you bring to our PVI community?

  • The St. Jane de Chantal Scholarship

    The St. Jane de Chantal Scholarship is available to students applying for admission who have a proven track record of tenacity in academic endeavors and demonstrated community impact. The award amount is up to $2,000 and is renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains in good standing.

    Eligibility:
    Please respond to the prompt, either in written or video format, in addition to all components of the PVI admissions checklist and application.

    Criteria:
    • Demonstrated tenacity and strong work ethic in the classroom
    • Strong academic performance, as demonstrated in the current school transcript
    • A letter of recommendation from a leader at your volunteer organization
    Prompt:
    Another of our school’s patron saints, Jane de Chantal, often cared for the sick and fed the hungry. She put the needs of others before her own, often depriving herself of much-needed rest. On her deathbed, she encouraged the assembled sisters of that community to remain constant in their vocation of living Jesus. How do you strive to “Live Jesus” in your everyday life?

Fine Arts scholarship candidates will be individuals with the following:
  • A complete admission application file
  • Demonstrated competence with vocal music, instrumental music, theatre, or visual art 
  • Commitment to enrollment in a full-year music, acting, or art course upon acceptance
  • Qualities that further the mission of the school
  • Scholarship submissions received by January 31, 2025.
You may only apply for one fine arts scholarship, in addition to one merit scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be notified when admission decisions are available on February 21, 2025.

Fine Arts Scholarships are renewable each year through graduation, as long as the award recipient remains enrolled in a full-year music, acting, or art course and in good standing.

  • Instrumental Music Scholarship

    The Instrumental Music Scholarship is available to students applying for admission who have demonstrated competence on a primary instrument. The award amount is $1,000 and is renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains enrolled in instrumental music ensemble courses and in good standing.

    Criteria:
    Please submit a quality online link recording (unlisted YouTube is preferred) of the applicant performing, a classical work with multiple movements or two distinct pieces. A piano accompanist is required on the recording.  
    • Applicant’s instrument must be used in typical band or string orchestra settings, such as woodwind, brass, percussion, keyboard, or string instrument.
    • Applicant must be actively involved in the 8th grade band or orchestra program
    • Audition material will be competitively adjudicated, so the audition should include scales and two (2) pieces of contrasting style. If invited back as a finalist, the two pieces should be different from the original pieces.
    Finalists will be invited back to campus for an interview and audition with the Fine Arts Scholarship committee.  The scholarship recipients will be named from these auditions.

    • Your video submission (embedded or as a link) 
    • A list detailing your experience (taking lessons, competitions at the middle school level, awards, etc.) 
    • A recommendation from the applicant’s 8th grade director
  • Theatre Scholarship

    The Theatre Scholarship is available to students applying for admission who have demonstrated proficiency and talent in theatre arts. The award amount is $1,000 and is renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains enrolled in theatre courses and in good standing.

    Criteria:
    Please submit a quality online link recording (unlisted YouTube is preferred) of the applicant’s performance of a standard theatrical monologue. The monologue should be no more than two minutes in duration. If a singer, the applicant may also submit a one-minute recording performing a Broadway or popular song, in addition to the monologue.

    • Your video submission (embedded or as a link)
    • A list detailing your experience (taking lessons, competitions at the middle school level, awards, etc.)  
  • Visual Arts Scholarship

    The Visual Arts Scholarship is available to students applying for admission who have a demonstrated love for visual art. The award amount is $1,000 and is renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains enrolled in art courses and in good standing.

    Criteria:
    Please submit a quality online link containing 10 works covering a variety of media, to including works in the following subject matters:
    • One (1) self-portrait (head and shoulders only)
    • One (1) landscape (drawing media or painting media)
    • Two (2) still lifes (one in drawing media and one in painting media)
    • The remaining six (6) pieces should demonstrate the student/artist’s creative ability (no sculpture or pottery)

In the subject line, please write your full name and the scholarship for which you are applying (ex: Jane Smith - Visual Arts Scholarship Application). In the body of your email or as an attachment, please have your submission. Note: Only digital submissions will be accepted. We are unable to accept physical submissions.
  • Vocal Music Scholarship

    The Vocal Music Scholarship is available to students applying for admission who have a demonstrated love for music and have the desire to be involved in one of the fine arts programs at Paul VI. The award amount is $1,000 and is renewable each year through graduation as long as the award recipient remains enrolled in choral courses and in good standing.

    Criteria:
    Please submit a quality online link recording (unlisted YouTube is preferred) of the applicant performing two contrasting works, representing two of the following genres: classical, Broadway or popular. Applicants should sing both pieces with accompaniment and should be seen in the video. 

    Finalists will be invited back to campus for an interview and audition with the Fine Arts Scholarship committee. The scholarship recipients will be named from these auditions.
